After Volkswagen Cross Coupe is introduced at the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show last autumn. And now, with a new version that features a super frugal powertrain will be revealed at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show on Tuesday.
The Volkswagen Cross Coupe complete with a 2.0-liter TDI diesel engine and plug-in hybrid setup, its combined fuel consumption in the New European Driving Cycle (NEDC) is 1.8 liters per 100 km (130 mpg US /156 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions of 46g/km.
With the new features, the driver can choose from a total of five driving modes: City (ECO mode with minimal fuel consumption); Sport (high dynamic performance); Off road (continuous all-wheel-drive); E-mode (pure electric drive); and Charging (via the TDI engine).
According VW, the system’s combined output is up from 265PS to 306PS (225 kW / 302 hp) offering the 1,858kg (4,096 lbs) can hit a top speed of 220km/h (137mph). For short travel, to be capable of traveling around 28 miles on electric power alone, at speeds of up to 75 mph.
