After the recent revelations, the 2013 Volvo V40 the Swedish car maker’s teaser campaign was officially unveiled at the 2012 Geneva Auto Show. Volvo will commence production of the new 2013 V40 at its Ghent plant in Belgium in March.
The 2013 Volvo V40 to provide a clean and attractive counterpoint with a low and wide front grille, design cues include a classic V-shaped bonnet further enhanced. The LED used in the front and rear position lights.
“Thanks to input from customers all over the world our most compact V-range model features an outstanding blend of design, safety and versatility. The car is loaded with features that buyers of modern luxury cars want,” explains Stefan Jacoby.
Inside, the V40 equipped a “floating” center console, LED lamps are also used to light up strategic areas. The interior offers three main colour themes: Charcoal, Charcoal/Blond, or Espresso/Blond. Highlights include a new, fully graphic instrument cluster that offers a customizable layout.
Volvo president and CEO Stefan Jacoby, boasting the following, “The all-new V40 is the first new model that is fully developed according to our human-centric, Designed Around You strategy. Charged with an outstanding set of high-tech features it definitely will give our toughest competitors a headache.”
The 2013 Volvo V40 is powered by a range of petrol and diesel engines.
The range-topping petrol mill is the 2.5 litre turbocharged T5 engine comes with a six-speed automatic gearbox, with 254 PS (187 kW / 251 bhp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Followed by the 1.6 litre T4 is available in combination with the automatic six-speed Powershift transmission or a six-speed manual gearbox 180 PS (132 vkW / 177 bhp) and T3 comes with a manual gearbox with 150 PS (110 kW / 148 bhp).
For the diesels are led by the 2.0 litre D4, with PS (130 kW / 175 bhp) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft) of torque. Then, there’s the 150 hp and 400 Nm D3 producing 150 PS (110 kW / 148 bhp) and 350 Nm (258 lb-ft) of torque. Both turbodiesels are available with a six-speed automatic transmission or six-speed manual gearbox.
Production of the 2013 Volvo V40 starts in May, with first customer deliveries set to begin in September.
