The new 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG which has been revealed today in full, ahead of debut next month at the 2012 Geneva Motor Show. Aside from a new body and interior, the big news is a less weight, more power, and an advanced multi-clutch transmission onboard.

The new model, thanks to the all-aluminum bodyshell and assorted magnesium components the SL’s body now weighs 242 pounds (110 kg) lighter than its steel bodied predecessor is 275 pounds. That not only improves performance but also reduces fuel consumption – by up to 30 percent over the previous SL 63 AMG, says Mercedes.

Norbert Haug, Vice President, Mercedes-Benz Motorsport, concluded: “2012 will mark the third season for our Mercedes-Benz Silver Arrows works team, which was introduced in January 2010, and our target is to take a step forward in on-track performance.”

On the exterior, with side skirts are the same as the SL-Class, 19-inch alloy wheels shod in high-performance tires. The changes include a new bodykit, AMG-specific LED daytime running lights, a custom sports exhaust system and an integrated rear diffuser.

On the interior, the features will include two-tone nappa leather, carbon fiber trim, illuminated sills  and ambient lighting,the glass roof’s tinting can be changed from light to dark. Options include Active Parking Assist, Airscarf heating, Bang & Olufsen BeoSound system, Driving Assist package and much more. Special AMG infotainment screens include a unique welcome display and a race timer.

The 2013 Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG owner features the familiar M157 with twin-turbocharged 5.5-liter V8 engine that produces 529bhp (394 kW / 536 PS), propelling the hardtop roadster from 0 to 60mph (96km/h) in 4.2 seconds en route to an electronically governed top speed of 155mph (250km/h). With the optional AMG Performance Package that boosts output to 550bhp and 664 lb-ft. The result is acceleration from 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds and a top speed electronically limited to 186 mph (299km/h).

According to Mercedes, fuel economy is estimated at 23.8 mpg combined. Power is transferred to the rear wheels via a seven-speed AMG Speedshift. Carbon ceramic brakes and red-painted calipers are available as an option.
