The 2013 Dodge Dart has finally been revealed thanks to an early leak, before to debut officially on Monday at the 2012 Detroit Auto Show. It is based on a wider and longer version of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta‘s platform, with the stylish compact sedan.
Beginning with the exterior, a crosshair grille and optional 18-inch alloy wheels. Out back, there’s tail lights, a dual exhaust system and an integrated trunk spoiler.
On the interior, soft-touch materials, ambient lighting and color-keyed accents. Options include a heated steering wheel, a digital instrument cluster and an 8.4-inch Uconnect Touch infotainment system.
According to previously released information, it will be launched with three gasoline engine options. Sixty-eight percent of the body structure is made of high-strength steel, which can be thinner and lighter than standard steel.
Under the hood, include a base 2.0-liter four-cylinder, a mid-level 1.4-liter turbo four with MultiAir technology, and finally a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine. The front-wheel drive Dart will debut with a Fiat Group-sourced 6-speed dual-clutch transmission and a six-speed manual gearbox. It’s possible that the test vehicle was equipped with a 9-speed transmission, is currently being developed by the ZF Group.
Production of the 2013 Dodge Dart is expected to begin this summer at Chrysler’s plant in Belvidere, Illinois. It’s will be officially unveiled on Monday at 2012 Detroit Auto Show.
