2013 BMW 6-Series Gran Coupe has officially unveiled, a new four-door coupe that will compete with the likes of the Mercedes-Benz CLS, Audi A7 and Porsche Panamera. So it was officially becomes the third installment in the 6er line-up along with the coupe and convertible variants.
The standout feature of the car’s design, the two additional doors, xenon headlights and 18-inch alloy wheels. At 4.4 inches(111 mm) longer than the 6-Series coupe and 1.3 inches wider than the 5-Series sedan, the new Gran Coupe truly slots in between the 5- and 7-Series, trunk space comes in at 16.24 cubic feet.
Inside, the cabin is luxuriously appointed with Dakota leather, heated front seats and dual-zone automatic climate control. There’s also a “4+1″ seating arrangement which offers a third rear seat and a boot that holds 460 liters (16.2 cubic feet) of luggage, comfort-oriented rear seat backrest angle. Features include a Connected Driver, rear-view camera, surround view, Parking Assistant, BMW Night Vision, Lane Departure Warning, Active Blind Spot Detection, new generation BMW Head-Up Display – most of those can be controlled through the BMW iDrive system, which also features navigation, communications and infotainment functions. Finally there is an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.
The 2013 BMW 640i Gran Coupe has a turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six with 320 PS (235 kW / 315 hp) and 450 Nm (332 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the car to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds and hit a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph).
The 2013 BMW 650i Gran Coupe models will be powered by BMW’s 4.4 liter twin-turbo V8 making 445-hp between 5,500 and 6,000 rpm with a maximum torque of 480 lb-ft between 2,000 and 4,500 rpm. 0 to 62 mph comes in 4.6 seconds with a top speed of 155 mph.
Lastly, the 2013 BMW 640d Gran Coupe has a 3.0-liter diesel engine with 313 PS (230 kW / 309 hp) and 630 Nm (465 lb-ft) of torque. Despite having the least powerful engine in the lineup, the car offers respectable performance as the dash to 100 km/h takes 5.4 seconds and the top speed is 250 km/h (155 mph).
