Hyundai has officially unveiled the 2012 Hyundai Azera at 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show
. Power comes from a 3.3-liter V6 engine with 293 hp (218 kW / 297 PS) and 255 lb-ft (345 Nm) of torque. It is connected to a six-speed automatic transmission which enables the sedan to return an estimated 20 mpg city / 29 mpg highway.
At first glance you may mistake it for a new Lexus ES, but the exterior styling of the new Azera borrows heavily from the smaller Sonata but features more pronounced rear fenders and a single tail lamp design. Inside, the cabin is nicely equipped with heated leather seats, ambient lighting and GPS navigation. Options include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated front seats and a 12-speaker Infinity audio system.
Hyundai claims the new Azera will deliver a best-in-class combined fuel economy of 23 mpg. From what we can tell, Hyundai will offer the 2012 Azera in base and Premium models. Base models are expected to start at $32,000, with Premium models selling for $36,000.
