Mazda’s MX-5 is one of the most intriguing concept models and was officially certified as the best-selling two-seat roadster in the world. At the SEMA Motor Show, Mazda has announced plans to introduce the Mazda MX-5 Spyder and Turbo2.
Designed by Magna Car Top Systems, the removable top gives the MX-5 Spyder an even lower profile and cleaner lines. The two-seater roadster model has been with a mix of bespoke accessories and body parts such as the ground effects kit and the redesigned front bumper that sports a new grille and air vents.
The MX-5’s battery has been changed from lead acid to lithium-ion to reduce weight, intake and exhaust muffler, a MAZDASPEED coil over kit, Brembo brakes. And the car’s featherweight stock wheels were swapped for a lighter set of Advan RS wheels fitted with Yokohama AO48 225/45R17 performance tires.

Under the Spyder’s aluminum hood, is the MX-5’s standard 2.0-liter engine, has been modified to run on BP’s isobutanol. Isobutanol is a biofuel that doesn’t negatively impact performance, and is compatible with existing technology and infrastructure, which makes it ideal to represent Mazda’s concept of “Sustainable Zoom Zoom.”
